Darwin Chorale joined a stellar line up in Overture To Peace at TIO Stadium on Anzac Eve,
The concert culminated a two month commemoration of Darwin's military history, and Darwin Chorale had a starring role alongside Human Nature, Dami Im and Marina Pryor.
Director John Foreman OAM was Master of Ceremonies for the star-studded event and he showcased Territory talent in a way that made the audience extremely proud. The Territory's finest was on show including the Darwin Symphony Orchestra, The Saltwater Band, NT Dance Company and the stunning Stuart Fong.
Darwin Chorale provided choral backing for Marina Pryor on "You Raise Me Up" before doing the same for Dami Im on "I Still Call Australia Home", and her own composition "Dreamer".
A special moment was the a capella rendition of “Amazing Grace” where the choir showed their ultimate skills with Dami Im on lead vocals.
Fan's of Dami Im praised Darwin Chorale's performance on Facebook. "Darwin Chorale have done an amazing job....blended voices throughout. They were all singing from their hearts," said one Dami fan.
"We'll Meet Again" was a highlight for the audience on the night as they sung along to Darwin Chrorale's rendition of the classic war song. John Foreman introduced the song and praised their extraordinary contribution to life in the Territory.
"For 34 years Darwin Chorale have been an integral part of the Territory's cultural life”, Mr. Foreman said.
Darwin Chorale also performed the Australian National Anthem with the entire cast as the finale to the show.
The success of of this concert may pave the way for Territory Tribute to continue for the next two years.
